History and future of fashion prediction conference

HTNK’s Mariette will be one of the keynote speakers at the conference “History and future of fashion prediction, University meets industry.”  This one-day public conference aims to bring the scholarly world of Fashion research and professionals of the international Fashion Industry together and opens the floor for debate.

The conference will focus on the changing structure of the European fashion business, with reference to ‘fashion intermediaries’—the retail buyers, the trend and colour forecasters, the fashion writers and fashion editors, and the brand managers, to name a few—who work behind the scenes to run the fashion system.

Mariette will give insight of HTNK’s unique position in understanding emerging markets and opportunities for innovation in the fashion industry by a lecture about “The House of Denim as the result of the growth of Amsterdam as a hub/cluster for the world wide denim industry.”

During the conference American and European scholars, as well as representatives of the Fashion prediction companies, from Paris, New York and London, will speak. The Dutch experience will be compared internationally and confronted with existing theories on the fashion ecosystem.

Financially supported by the HERA Joint Research Programme, the conference has been organised by Dr Ben Wubs and Dr Thierry Maillet at the School of History, Culture and Communication of Erasmus University, in collaboration with HTNK Fashion recruitment & consultancy, on behalf of the Enterprise of Culture project.
