HTNK in Milano
On a (trade) missionWe were honored to be asked by the Dutch Consulate in Milan to organize part of the Dutch trade mission to Italy this June. We chose to highlight the denim industry, which connects Italy and The Netherlands on a day-to-day basis.
GDA exhibitionFor the occasion a Global Denim Awards exhibition went on display at La Triennale Di Milano. This exhibition focused on the Italian and Dutch collaborations over the last three years – thereby highlighting the best practices of Dutch-Italian co-creation.
Hosting the Royal CoupleHis Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima of The Netherlands visited the exhibition as part of the mission. Mariette Hoitink opened the exhibition on 17 June and closed it on 23 June with a tour for our King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. The Royal Couple’s visit was concluded with the signing of a partnership between Candiani Denim, Berto Industria Tessile & ITV Denim with House of Denim.
Best of Both Impact DebatesHTNK, House of Denim and Modint also organized a ‘Best of Both’ impact debate involving Dutch and Italian industry leaders. Dutch and Italian stakeholders from government, education and enterprise discussed how to improve existing Italian and Dutch collaborations. Topics included sustainable and circular concepts, re-shoring and the collaborative strengthening of the Italian and Dutch denim industries.

During each summer edition of Amsterdam FashionWeek, Lichting showcases the best talent from the Dutch fashion academies in one catwalk show. Lichting is a collaboration between FashionWeek and HTNK and was co-founded by Mariette Hoitink & James Veenhoff in 2007. Lichting bridges the gap between the academic world of art schools and graduates and the talent-hungry fashion industry. Audience consists of both commercial and creative decision-makers. Since 2016, Lichting is supported by Meester Koetsier Foundation.
