Ambassador of Bangladesh visits Denim CityMariette Hoitink, co-founder & partner of House of Denim and proprietor of Amsterdam-based fashion recruitment and consultancy HTNK received the Ambassador and his delegation and showed them around Denim City, the denim innovation campus based in De Hallen. Ms. Hoitink also held a presentation highlighting the aspects of Denim City and probable areas of collaboration between Bangladesh and the House of Denim foundation. Ms.Hoitink also showed the high-end Blue Lab and other innovations that Denim City is aspiring to host in their premise with manager Sercan Baykal.
Ambassador Belal also met Ms. Mira Copini, Coordinator (Principal) of Jean School and discussed areas of collaboration. Both Ms. Mira and Ms. Hoitink expressed their interests in making space for their one-year long vocational training for students from Bangladesh subject to approval from their relevant authorities.
Ambassador Belal briefed them about the emerging denim market in Bangladesh and narrated how Bangladesh is aspiring to export $7 billion worth of denim products by 2021, when the country's total garment export is expected to cross the $50-billion mark.
Ambassador Belal also mentioned Bangladesh’s deep appreciation for excellent help from the government of the Netherlands and particularly from honorable Ms. Lilianne Ploumen, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation for her proactive role in striving to improve the RMG industry and working conditions in Bangladesh. Highlighting impressive developments in the RMG industry in Bangladesh, Ambassador Belal invited the members of House of Denim to visit Bangladesh for exploring the future of denim in Bangladesh. First Secretary Mr.Istiaque Uddin Ahmed also accompanied the Ambassador during the tour.
