Lichting 2014, the seventh edition, is a project of HTNK Fashion Recruitment & Consultancy, and Fashion Week Nederland, in collaboration with V&D.
The concept of ‘Lichting’ is simple: the best academy graduates of one year in one central catwalk show. In the audience are the 700 most important people for the next step in their careers: fashion journalists and influential stylists, ready to spot the next big thing; CEO’s and design managers on the look-out for talent; and the all-important players-behind-the-scenes, all eager to see what the nation’s academies have brought forth this year.
This unique event brings together the cream of the crop from the Netherlands’ 7 fashion academies, each of which sends its two most promising graduating students. As a result, Lichting is one of the most highly principled fashion events in the Netherlands, both in terms of quality and representation.
The most promising graduate will receive the V&D talent Award. The lichting winner will have the chance to design and produce a capsule collection, which will be sold in selected V&D stores in 2015.
Lichting has invited an international panel of four independent experts to attend Lichting and provide informed commentary on the collections. The panellists meet the 14 selected designers for individual portfolio pitches the day before the show and decide during the show for 50% which of them will win the Lichting prize. The other 50% is up to 120 selected decision makers attending the show. This years panel members are: Mathew Stevenson-wright, menswear fashion editor wallpaper magazine. Lotte Mostert, fashion designer and product developer. Marlo Saalmink, creative consultant, lecturer and brand consultant. Jo Simpson, curriculum leader in fashion at central saint martins. The panel members are made possible by The New Institute.
This Years participants are: Wieke Sinnige, Vera Roggli, Milou van Esch, Marije Seijn, Lotte van Dijk, Lola van Praag, Lisi Herrebrugh, Klara Valkova, Joelle Baten, Gino Anthonisse, Dusty Thomas, Dennis Bareiro, Bastian Visch and Afra Engel.
